There’s no one else
by Jim Keenan

There’s no one else I’d rather be….
except, perhaps another me.
Because, through time I’ve come to see
the beauty and the mystery
of my life.

I don’t claim to know who planned
my journey through this strange, strange land.
I don’t expect to understand
where it will lead, how it will end,
but, it’s my life.

And, I’ll simply never comprehend
how people can, just out of hand,
discount their life ‘cause they can’t command
it. Seems they’ll never understand….
it’s their life.

So I wouldn’t classify as friend
some guru who would recommend;
“Abandon every memory.
pretend you’re not who you’ve come to be
in your life.”

For every twist, each turn we make,
for this success, and that mistake,
for every road we choose to take,
makes us unique in our snowflake
and brief life.

There’s no one else I’d rather be
except, perhaps another me.
Because, through time I’ve come to see
the beauty and the mystery
of my life.

And my wish for you is that you may see
the beauty, and the mystery,
that’s your life
