If I were cast upon the sea
with just one book allowed to me,
without a doubt my choice would be
a book of poetry!
So much more than plot or scheme.
A single line might birth a dream,
or force a grin, a tear, a smile,
and carry me away awhile.
Concepts conveyed in nano time
through use of metaphor and rhyme.
Ideas and thoughts compressed through wit.
Oh, there is so much power in it!
If I were cast upon the sea
with just one book allowed to me
Then, on my life, that book would be
A book of poetry.
